Best literary analysis ever

I had two MRIs on my head and brain in 2019. Oh, I will forever remember the sound of jackhammers circling my head for thirty, forty minutes. You do not *ever* forget what part of the body they're looking at. You can't... unless there's a reason why your brain won't let you remember.
Trump: I had an MRI and the result was outstanding.

Reporter: Was it your brain?

Trump: I have no idea what they analyzed, but whatever they analyzed, they analyzed it well.

He can say that. It's not going to happen.

There is absolutely nothing old or consolidated about *multiracial, pluralistic democracy* in America. It only started 60 years ago.

And the conflict over whether or not it should be allowed to endure and prosper has been the central fault line in U.S. politics ever since.

Dementia-induced paranoia explains it, imho.

He lives in a fictional world where he cannot be wrong and everyone else is.

That he's apparently all through the DOJ's Epstein material is a psychic shock to the world he inhabits and proves (to him) that everyone is out to get him.
The other part of 'it's even worse than the stuff we *do* know' is he clearly is terrified that it'll end him despite his control of DOJ, Congress, the cabinet, SCOTUS, much of the media and social media.

He only ran again because it granted him unique legal protection from actual convictions.

This is the thing.

It's worse than what we know. Which is that he's a rapist who paid hush money to sex workers and hung around with paedophiles.

Worse than that.
Whatever Trump is desperately covering up about Epstein, it’s clearly so bad that he thinks it could destroy him

It was a struggle meal kind of night. It's been a week.

Okay, #BookSky: Name a book that you bought just for the title, whether or not you ended up enjoying it.

One of mine: Wesley Crusher, Teenage Fuck Machine

It's Grand Theft Auto with Star Trek names and necrophiliac sex. It's a bad, bad book.
Okay, #BookSky: Name a book that you bought just for the title, whether or not you ended up enjoying it.

One of mine: ZOEY PUNCHES THE FUTURE IN THE DICK

And yes, it lived up to the title. 😃

What say you?

Let's blow up another country so John Q. Public won't think about Epstein for a little while!
emerging reports about possibly imminent US military attack on venezuela. there can be no doubt about it, certainly not in the coverage: such an attack would be an act of aggression, lacking any basis in international law. we'll get sophistic arguments about self-defense but none will be legit.

Once you've seen the sub-literate gibberish passed along among billionaires, the story of how elites came to exalt Bari Weiss, Thomas Chatterton Williams, and other stylists of 4th-grade book report prose snaps into place.
Another revelation from all of these emails is that many of the richest and most powerful people in the country absolutely cannot write. Helps explain their sweaty embrace of LLMs.

Speaking as a Beatles fan, "Revolution #9" and "What's the New Mary Jane" sound positively tame compared to this Stella McCartney dress, and even the unreleased "Carnival of Light" cannot possibly be worse.

An email I wrote to my Congressman, Lloyd Smucker (R-Toady), asking him to vote next week in favor of the release of the Epstein Files. Highlighting that the release could destroy Democrats seems like the right way to go.

This may be Trump's perfect social media post. A true work of art. He confirms:

✅He personally directs criminal investigations.
✅He is targeting opponents.
✅Epstein "records" exist and he knows the contents.

Bonus points for connecting it to investigation of his fondness for Putin.👀

YouTube recommended me a nice little Irish Christmas song by The Drunken Bodhráns this morning. Never heard of this band, but I like it.

I remember this interview on NPR and the description of what would fall under an "Antifa" label, and I had the dark thought that Marvel Comics would fall afoul of it any time Captain America punches Hitler.
In an interview with @npr.org last month, a former head of FTO designation at State said this would be "a highly dangerous step" and former counsel for domestic terrorism at DOJ predicted it would have "a cascading effect across civil society."

This feels like a Bit of Fry & Laurie sketch, with Chloe Troast in the Stephen Fry role (and sorta she even adopts a Fry-ish look) and Ben Marshall in the Hugh Laurie role. I was rolling with laughter.

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

…and I'm like, yup, bring it on. Obama, Bush, Blair, Clinton, etc. All of them. Fine by me.

nothing to see here, just Donald Trump's top henchmen summoning members of congress to a secure room where they can't be record that is sometimes used for ordering people killed in order to persuade them not to release the Epstein files
My god (sorry I’m late on a bunch of this stuff. But wow!)

According to this NYT report, the head of the FBI and the Attorney General are holding meetings *in the Situation Room* with GOP lawmakers they are trying to pressure to rescind their votes to release the Epstein info. This is madness.

A full-throated, no-bscksies, immediate Trump endorsement for her gubernatorial campaign and I think Nancy Mace would. But the endorsement would need to be public and immediate.
Is Mace gonna cave to the pressure to remove her name from the discharge petition?
A normal reaction to today's news, dear Nancy, would be to express shock and horror at the significant possibility that the president of the United States is a child molester.

I had this book as a child... about forty-five years ago. I also had dePaola's book on Francis of Assisi.
