It was mostly Faye Dunaways fault - they gave them the best actress card which was Emma stone in lala land - Beatty realized this and gave the card to Dunaway to read and she - sans glasses - saw the movie name not the actress’ name - Beatty could hv stopped it but instead let dunaway look the fool
You’ll never convince me that giving the wrong card to Beatty and having him announce La La Land wasn’t intentional from someone behind the scenes. Hasn’t happened in all the eighty years the Oscars had been going. Just so happens to go down on the night a film about gay Black men wins.
