Bingo. Corporate welfare is the real welfare you should be talking about.

These GOP-led efforts will ruin their states’ public universities. Sad!

yes yes we all know about the Edmund Fitzgerald, rest her soul, but did you know about the ship laden with explosives that sank in the mouth of the Thames in 1944 and could explode at any minute and which attempts to disarm keep failing

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

Going to repeat this every time I see the GOP "plan":

I have kidney failure. I require dialysis to live. Three times a week every single week. It costs $1000 per treatment.

So either they need to give me a MINIMUM of $156,000 a year...or I'm going to die.
I was at an event yesterday where Rand Paul spoke via video and talked about how great it was to send ACA money "directly to the people" so that they could work collectively to get better deals on health care.

Why is the "we must be united!" hectoring directed at people who are mad at the Cavers and not to the Cavers? Everyone who's mad was united, then the Cave Caucus walked across the aisle and betrayed what the public had been told was the Dem position.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

If Dem Senators are truly disgusted with this save they should be calling on #SurrenderSchumer to step aside as the Leader immediately.

We’re all trying to figure out who controls the democratic Senate caucus, because that person should resign.
I will not support the Republican bill that’s on the Senate floor because it fails to do anything of substance to fix America’s healthcare crisis.

Men like this are transphobes because they are, deep down, misogynists. They simply believe they are better than women at everything, and in trans women they have found a group it is alright to descriminate against. This man believes cis women are his physical inferiors, and needs you to know that.

Lots of hard, shitty lessons being learned from this presidency. And one of the many I hope you're learning is, white supremacy is incompatible with reality, and cannot exist without historical revisionism.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?
