I made a faith-based #advocacy starter pack for #Bluesky. Mostly comprised of people and organizations advocating federal law makers, but many have state and local wings too! The list will be maintained and updated!

Judge Biery signed the order with a photo of Liam and two bible verses: The first is "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The second is simply "Jesus wept."

Astonishing thing for a judge to do.

Legitimately a feat of carefully calculated writing to issue a Holocaust Remembrance Day statement of this length without mentioning either (1) the people who perpetrated the Holocaust or (2) the people against whom they perpetrated it

🔴 Keep the Endangered Species Act strong!
The federal government has proposed 4 new rules that would weaken the Endangered Species Act (ESA) — one of the most effective laws we have to prevent extinction.

Virginia, they are proposing a detention center in Hanover Co. We are up on the administration’s list - GET PREPARED. #Virginia #ICE
Hearing folks are bummed they missed the Eyes on ICE training - but good news, it's all recorded and public! We'll be holding more live trainings soon, but if you aren't one of 200,000 who already watched it, find it here: www.youtube.com/live/zqka9fU...

The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE

At a church in Minneapolis that is hosting an anti-ICE singing vigil, which will later process through the neighborhood.

They sing: “This is for our neighbors who are locked inside, together we will abolish ICE.”

This is usually the part in my novels where the good guys rally, break through the authoritative grasp the bad guys had on society, and topple the oppressors. Usually it is with magic, spy networks, joint forces. And all I can wonder is what is that for us? What is the movement? What are the means?

I remember in a grad class at American that I brought up in our readings autocratic trends toward militaristic racketeering and being quickly told that was too libertarian (?) of a position.
There is no difference between this and Tony Soprano saying that something bad will happen to your business if you don’t give him protection money. From him.

Extortion.

The first night of Hanukkah we pray for those who have lost their lives to senseless gun violence, for all creation, for all that is holy, for life and liberation. Everyday anew.

Plays right into both sides of the contextual v. motivation debate, almost makes you think the perfect candidate would be someone who can do both!
Texas Dems:

"Who'd be more successful in mobilizing Dem-leaning non-voting Texans to turn out for them?"

Crockett: 53%
Talarico: 34%

"Who'd be more successful in convincing Texans who regularly vote GOP to vote for them?"

Talarico: 58%
Crockett: 29%
