American politics make more sense when you realize people see Democrats as the mom party and Republicans as the dad party, with all the gendered stereotypes it implies.
The basic mistake of voters in 2024 is the conviction is that he won't hurt *them*, only the people they want hurt. To seek the "daddy" figure who promises retaliation is to seek pain
