The gutter racism at work in the Claudine Gay situation and the craven, wholly unforgivable complicity of the NYT in the stitch up I think will go down as a shining light example of how the liberal US establishment helped pave the way for Trump’s fascism.

Those Paul Weiss has betrayed include lawyers who have worked with the firm and law professors who have steered their students there. Belonging to both groups, I feel doubly betrayed. That once great firm should back out of its Trump deal. Better late than never!

‘Disgusted’ and ‘Betrayed’—Legal World Shaken by Trump’s Extortion
The decision by Paul Weiss to settle with the president has sent shockwaves through the firm and the broader legal community.

congress right now has all the power it needs to put an end to MAGA despotism. they just don’t want to. and there is no set of rules you could devise that could overcome that obstacle.

Democrats even *thinking* about joining Republicans to censure Al Green for having the courage to stand up while they sat down do not deserve to be able to generate a single fundraising dollar from a person of moral character ever again.

Gov Hochul can fire the mayor. She should have done so when the scope and scale of his cascading congenital corruption career was laid out in federal indictments. She waited for him to go to trial. Now that injustice has taken its course she is the only reason he remains in office. Step up Hochul.

COLLINS: Where exactly are you suggesting Gazans should go? Who do you envision living there?

TRUMP: I envision world people living there. The world's people. I think you'll make that into an international, unbelievable place.

Trump falsely blames DEI (MAGA dog whistle for women and people of color) as he, a white man, is President and Sean Duffy, a white man, is the Sec of Transportation and Pete Hegseth, a white man, is Secretary of Defense.

Any university that voluntarily shutters a DEI program, office or personnel “Because of Trumps Executive Order” is making a PR decision. Not a legal one.

Trumps EO does not change anti discrimination law. If anything, the EO is unlawful.

Universities should treat it that way.

I am returning to Dijon this summer, for the International Academy of Musical Creation with New Media 2025.
This is a great opportunity to have new work, especially multimedia, performed in a supportive environment.
Applications are rolling (until 1 June):

Calling the richest person in the world (who is also a massive racist and far right ideologue)’s attack on the liberal state (worker protections, civil rights, unions, food safety, social security etc) “ambitions to tame Washington’s sprawling bureaucracy” is genuinely evil. We are absolutely cooked
Exclusive: Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy are sending representatives to agencies across the federal government, four people familiar with the matter said, to begin preliminary interviews that will shape the tech executives’ enormous ambitions to tame Washington’s sprawling bureaucracy.
DOGE is dispatching agents across U.S. government
Federal officials are already dealing with surrogates from Elon Musk’s and Vivek Ramaswamy’s nongovernmental body before Donald Trump is sworn in again.

In 2016 the world signed the Paris Agreement to limit climate change to 1.5C. Now, 8 years on, we're already passing it.

As Los Angeles burns, the cost of inaction couldn't be clearer. It's incalculable.

This was never inevitable. It's a political choice. We must change course.
