Very much this, the UK needs immigration for a positive future because it needs the future workforce and you cannot achieve this with short-term visas alone
Falling birth rates, plummeting net immigration is a recipe for economic disaster. Aside from it being the morally right thing to do, opening up safe routes for asylum may also be an economic necessity in the not to distant future.
