I wonder if any of the eight Democratic senators has taken part in a genuine labour strike, the kind where you cut back on household spending and stay on strike till your employer caves? Cos it looks as if they don’t understand the principle involved.

Follow-up from my quote-reskeet of the treacherous eight:
What's the provenance of ‘Why is this man smiling?’ as a cultural catch-phrase? My first impulse leads me to suspect Mad Magazine, but that’s just a starting point and could easily be off the beam.

Yes really — the “we asked this guy. He doesn’t actually know jack shit but he’s rich” model of reportage really needs to go
theres a whole category of newstertainment thats gotta go. and its "ask a really rich freak who is also evil and directly stealing from you what hes seen on the computer lately that has made him feel bad." the only -- ONLY -- story about this guy worth exploring is: he is getting rich spying on you

I honestly don’t get the value of this company. They hoover up energy and water. Their product constantly gets things wrong and, in extreme cases, coaches people into suicide.
And it’s all built on what seems to be malicious and vast intellectual property theft.

Your pen doesn’t have to be gilt or sparkly or a collector’s edition or anything but satisfying to you (this has a wee burn in the plastic on the back, lest you think I’m getting hoity-toity with a Special Edition).

Life tip: if you're laminating something you're gonna hang outside, cut the corners off before you laminate it, so that when you make holes for the string or pins or whatever you're using to hang it up with, the holes are just in the plastic and don't create an entry point for water into the paper.

We should all be repulsed by this. I have little issue with some people being a hell of a lot better off than others, if the system that makes that happen also makes sure everyone has food and a roof over their heads. But we’re far beyond that now. We’re profoundly out of whack. Things must change.
