I sprayed a potable beverage onto my computer screen.
This is a photo from the Vanity Fair article. Notice how they have to arrange it so Stephen Miller is on the end, so it isn’t obvious that there is no reflection of him on the mirrored table.🧛

My favorite tyrant joke: a man comes every day and peers at the front page of the newspaper without buying it.

The newspaper vendor says, "what are you looking for?"
"An obituary."
"Obituaries aren't on the front page."
"This one will be."

I'm not sure if people realize the murder strikes are taking place across a large region. It's quite staggering.

if you were to make a gender-swapped version of James Bond, and needed to come up with a bawdy euphemism name for a glamorous and sexy Bond Boy, ironically you could do a lot worse than Roger Moore.

A lot of carols get really doctrinal around verse 4. It’s like:

v1 Jesus was born in winter

v2 Which makes us happy

v3 Because he reconciles us to God

v4 By uniting the divine and human natures in his person, without division and without confusion

It’s important to remember there are two scandals here:

1. The Administration has likely committed war crimes.

2. But the entire operation - which now includes two dozen attacks - is illegal. In our democracy, the President CANNOT wage war without the consent of the people.
BERMAN: Did you see any evidence of them trying to use a radio in the video you saw?

TOM COTTON: Well I saw lots of evidence of them standing on the boat that had been capsized

BERMAN: That wasn't my question. Did you see any evidence?

COTTON: No, I didn't

Senator Kelly is correct.

Plus a Public Service Announcement:

KEY section of Department of Defense's Law of War Manual is 18.3.2.1.

The VERY rule on the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders gives as its paradigmatic example of what is "clearly illegal:
"orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

A nice thing about joining ICC would be that Trump's pardon of Haegseth wouldn't prevent ICC prosecution (it wouldn't anyway, but jurisdiction & extradition would be problems while we're not a member).

Meanwhile, pardoning a war criminal is exactly why the ICC can prosecute when the state fails to.
If the US were a member of the International Criminal Court, it still wouldn't prosecute Secretary of War Hagueseth if the United State itself prosecuted him.

We're not a member, but the same principle still applies.

We should do the right thing in either case.

You're not seeing the defense and international conflict experts disagreeing because if the facts are true, it's one of the most basic things in the law of armed conflict: You cannot kill people who are "hors de combat," taken out of the game by injury or attack. This is Geneva 101 stuff.
I follower a few defense experts.

Seeing them all straight-up declare this a war crime without any him-and-hawing is uhm

Disconcerting.

Pete Hegseth must resign, as does Stephen Miller. Donald Trump should be subpoenaed before Congress to answer for HIS policy.

Straight up war crime
Every single congressional Democrat needs to be out there, right now, insisting that Pete Hegseth resign right now and announcing that he will be held accountable for committing war crimes.

If you do not demand accountability here and now, they will only become more emboldened.
Exclusive: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gave an order to “kill everybody” in the first strike on suspected drug boats in the Caribbean. After two men survived, the mission commander ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions, according to two sources.

One thing I have no patience for is "there is nothing to be thankful for" doomerism. If Americans were finding things to be thankful for in 1863, two and a half years into a bloody Civil War, when Abraham Lincoln formalized the Thanksgiving holiday, then I can find things to be thankful for too.

Every Democrat in Congress should put out a video saying troops have an obligation to refuse unlawful orders. Make them prosecute all of you. This isn't a close call.

I'd add Republicans too if I thought any of them had the courage to actually cross Trump on this.
Hegseth is now threatening to recall Sen. Mark Kelly to active duty in order to court martial him.

Breaking character: I am open to the idea the media's coverage of Biden's age and mental acuity was fair or perhaps not even tough enough. But the fact that it was so much tougher than the coverage of Trump's (more severe) mental decline is damning and I can't see how anyone could argue otherwise.
