I mostly tilt at other windmills, but academics don’t have to participate in this economy. It’s a choice. You could make a different choice. you could do it tomorrow.
Elsevier has a 38% profit margin, and the other journal publishers aren't far behind.

there is plenty to critique about this list, for sure, but as someone who grew up reading so many male SFF authors because that was the majorit of who was getting published, it's kind of amazing to see this

I just found out that REFUSE TO BE DONE is going into its 8th printing! I've heard so many stories from writers whose projects have been helped along by this little yellow book over the past three years. Nothing makes me happier!
