@andrewchak.bsky.social writes: "NATO didn’t expand — countries formerly occupied by russia stampeded toward it the moment they could. If America sought to menace Moscow, why has Ukraine spent a decade begging for membership while Washington hemmed and hawed?"
For Putinverstehers, stability means borders stop moving; never mind the torture, child abduction, or rape as policy
🇺🇦 must make “difficult concessions” for peace, they say. But if aggression pays, war expands.

Temporarily occupied Ukraine is a land area slightly larger than Pennsylvania. It's lost over half of its population since the full-scale invasion began in 2022. And dozens of former cities are like this.

To the worst people in the world, this looks like a permission slip.
“They make a desert and call it peace.”

In 2022, Putin claimed his invasion would liberate the population of eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region. Instead, Russia has destroyed dozens of cities and transformed the entire region into a wasteland

It has been a year since Victoria Amelina was killed on July 1 2023. Ukrainian writer and journalist, public figure, wife and mother, owner of a white dog named Vovchytsia, is gone.

Seen the busts of russian bot farms running on rows of smartphones? Unfortunately, it's a very efficient way to flood the zone with outrageous crap that barely passes for a human user.

Some account pestered LiquidAI for a russian model sized to a modest phone. Their public page is... blatant.

The Kizilelma, the first autonomous drone to fire an air-to-air missile destroying a flying target, now the first to fly in formation, has an engine built by Ukraine's Ivchenko-Progress.

Expansionist wars end only in one of two ways: the aggressor is defeated, as Hitler reminded us in 1945, or the cost of continuing outweighs the gains, as Russialearned in Afghanistan in 1989. There is no third way.

USPS quietly changed its postmark rules — mail is no longer dated when you drop it off. The “official” date is when it hits automated sorting — sometimes days later

Which could have major implications for mail in voting — it’s a clever way to disenfranchise voters that’s going largely overlooked

Trump has told many despicable lies, but what he told a Reuters reporter, "russia wants to see Ukraine succeed" - that is especially bloated with evil and wrong.

A visual reminder from Mariupol:

I don't want to do much of this, but I had to ask for a lot of "ooze" and "Giger" to show the real soul of what I saw in the news today, and make a minor addition.

I despise what Ukraine and Zelensky go through because we confuse resistance with monetized grievance.

Thus, Luis mommy's communist wannabe is aiming to sound smart. Sadly, he doesn't succeed.

It doesn't mean Luis did not try.

I'd just like to give a shout out to the clowns who stirred up supporter chatrooms to accuse those opposing Trump 100% of being bad allies to Ukraine.

It was obvious he'd backstab the free world.

I don't want to hear apologies. Apologize to the people who spent xmas hearing air sirens first.

Don't be distracted by Trump's attempts to start wars as if they broke with other authoritarian mafia states.

What unites strongmen is that they can't stand to be told "No". It's ingrained in egos based on violent narcissism and invasion, rather than recognition and respect and inclusion.

What people must understand: It does NOT matter if Russia rejects the "20 point peace plan" agreed to by Ukraine and the US. This plan is a victory for Moscow because it makes clear that with enough coercion, principally from Trump, Kyiv will agree to a whole host of unacceptable concessions.
