Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has announced tough new measures to deter asylum seekers from attempting to enter the UK. Will her methods be enough, or is this simply an attempt to win back support…

Thoroughly engaging and enjoyable evening with @profaliceroberts.bsky.social

Worth going out in the wind and rain for - and flying over from Ireland, of course.

David Coverdale is retiring? Well from #DeepPurple to #Whitesnake and #CoverdalePage he leaves a legacy that few can match. Enjoy your downtime, sir. We wish you well.

Whatever happened to November? I like November. It’s autumn, a beautiful month of orange and brown, of cool days and mists, not of jingle bells and Santas. Please, can we have November back? I don’t want 2 months of Christmas.

On this day in 1970 this happened. #DeepPurple recorded live on 12th November 1970 at Konserthuset in Stockholm by Swedish National Radio for a radio show called Tonkraft. From 1969 to 1974 no-one could touch Purple, live.

GREAT presidential acceptance speech from Catherine Connolly, including a repeated focus on the threat of climate and environmental breakdown.

She's clearly announcing that she'll be an activist president: *exactly* what's needed right now.

Y'know what I'd really like to see? The #BBC deciding to draw a line in the sand, take the gloves off, and *really* go after Farage, Trump, Musk, and all the new alt/far-right.

It'll never happen but if they did I'd voluntarily send a licence fee over from here.

A very occasional reminder that ‘Pan: the Great God’s Modern Return,’ published by Reaktion Books, is available in paperback through your favorite bookseller.

It's the 50th anniversary of this underrated and unfairly maligned album. Released on 7 November 1975, #DeepPurple without #RitchieBlackmore for the first time, #TommyBolin on guitar.

On this day in 1975, after a month delay "Come Taste The Band" was released. This is the only release by the short-lived Mark 4 lineup and the last Deep Purple release before reforming in 1984.

What are your favorite tracks from this album? @davidcoverdale @glennhughes
