On this day in 1947 Cozy Powell was born. From Rainbow to Whitesnake and beyond he backed up numerous groups over the years with countless Deep Purple related cross overs. Sadly he passed away in 1998. What are some of your favorite Cozy Powell projects?

On this day in 1978 Ritchie joins Gillan on stage at The Marquee. Prior to this Ritchie had shown up unannounced at Ian Gillan's house and after a few drinks asked him to join rainbow. Ian says no then asks Ritchie to join Gillan. Both say no. Were any of you at this show?

On this day in 1948 Martin Birch was born in Wokin, Surrey. He would go on to produce some of the greatest hard rock albums of all time by Deep Purple, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and more! Sadly he passed away in 2020. R.I.P., Martin.

On this day in 1938 the song "Deep Purple" was recorded by Larry Clinton featuring vocalist Bea Wain. Previously it had only been an instrumental but Mitchell Parish added lyrics to the popular song in 1938. The instrumentation was written in 1933.
