Chesterton’s Lawyers
this is not "everyone is twelve" theory. this is the slightly rarer but typically much more consequential "no one knows what lawyers do" theory
“I’ve been hearing that standards will be eliminated or severely cut back. Bari has told people that she wants to get rid of standards and is shocked that they have so much power. She also asked openly, ‘What’s the point of standards?’” one CBS source said.

The Lexus ad where they show a family over the years & their car goes from a reasonable sedan to a bloated SUV with oversized hood by the end.
It accidentally tells the story of why pedestrian fatalities have been rising.

NEW: Dems easily flipped the sheriff's office in Pennsylvania's Bucks County, a big swing county in the Philly suburbs.
So? The incumbent GOP sheriff had contracted with ICE. His Dem challenger promised to end the contract.
Now he wants other swing-state Dems to look at his victory as a lesson:

This. “Democrats” also won all those races a few *days* ago.
Honestly things are hard right now, I get that, but I’m sick to death of the defeatism
“Why should *I* do any work when congressional Democrats will continue to suck?”
We just saw a democratic socialist win a hotly contested race because people showed up locally!

This is the most common response when I urge people to get involved and while it’s entirely true it won’t immediately change things in federal seats, change trickles up and if we don’t start NOW we can only blame ourselves when this shit continues in perpetuity

Was surprised how much faster this tire feels compared to Gatorskins. Maybe I shouldn’t have been.

Endless debates about where the line should be drawn between e-bikes/e-motorcycles? Prob a legitimate debate but the bigger question is why is that the only line we are debating? Why is there no debate about max horsepower for cars? Max tire size for trucks?

Baltimore homicide rate down 31% in 2025 compared to 2024.
Community violence responders said we know how to bring down violence on our cities.
They did it.
They gathered the evidence to show they did it.
They got city politicians to say, yep, they did it.
They got virtually all of their federal funding cut.

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.
