Trump really really doesn't understand trade. But he understands extortion. His concept here is that consumers (you) are the "product" and and access to the product is something he can regulate. He wants a cut, doesn't care where it comes from.
Trump: "We'll make deals, but we don't have to. We are the ones that have the product. We are the ones that the United States -- they want a piece of our product. We can just set the price."

This mailer being sent out in #NY17 is WILD.

All of the wording about Mike Lawler is technically accurate, but hoo-boy the design choices here are something to behold.

Definitely zoom in and read for yourself.

"Retribution" is the wrong word, and a lot of journalists are using it. You don't have "retribution" for justice. Justice is retribution. Trump is pursuing "revenge" against those who pursued justice.
Again, I beg of journalists to stop normalizing Trump's false claims he was wronged by using the word "retribution."

This is a GREAT piece.

Except this is not retribution.
A REUTERS SPECIAL REPORT

Trump’s campaign of retribution:
At least 470 targets and counting

The list illuminates the sweeping effort by the president and his administration to punish dissent and reshape the government.

DOGE was bad from start. Putting a drugged up billionaire crony is charge of anything in government was a doomed endeavor. Even the term "DOGE" is disgusting and wrong.
We all believe in improving efficiency, and a team genuinely focused on that could do a world of good.

But the DOGE we could have had is a far cry from the DOGE we actually got.

Since it's Thanksgiving, I'd like to say, I'm grateful and lucky. The older I get, the more I realize how lucky I am. And the more grateful I am.

This also implicates a bigger obligation to "give back" which is something I'm wrestling.

Hilarious.
‘Racism is when you alert people to ICE’s presence’ - yard sign stealing guy. Honestly, we'd be embarrassed for him if he wasn't terrorizing our communities.

Hopefully, someone buys him a dictionary for Christmas!

Lots to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. 😌
Quite the pre-Thanksgiving news: Mayor Muriel Bowser will not seek a fourth term in office. That's a huge opening a mayoral race that still doesn't have any major candidates in it, but with possible entries from Ward 4 Councilmember Janeese Lewis George and At-Large Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie.

It's been (slightly) less than 3 years since ChatGPT was released (November 30, 2022). Can you think of a tech product that has had such a big impact in such a short time? Not sure it has materially changed society or the economy or whatever. But, totally changed the conversation.

Lotta jobs in repossession, towing, foreclosures, auctions these days.
Auto repos up, debt up, defaults up — but stocks are up too, so apparently that’s what a "healthy economy" looks like now.

When I see Terry Lynch's campaign signs, I think that the candidate is running for Alaska's senate seat. Possibly because the green blob isn't actually the shape of Ward 1.

Trump/Rubio are jealous of Bush/Cheney reputation.
Really looks like the United States is about to launch a regime change war against Venezuela with:

-No casus belli
-No authorization from Congress
-No allies or international support
-No plan for a post-Maduro Venezuela
-No preparation for any sort of stabilization or containment of the fallout

In the end, it didn’t cut government spending, and there was no promised “savings.” In the end, DOGE destroyed countless lives, ravaged American soft power, killed hundreds of thousands of people around the world (soon millions), & stole your data.

Elon Musk should be on trial.

Republicans want you to pay a lot more for health insurance. A LOT MORE. Because they don't think American's deserve affordable health care.
It’s because congressional Republicans want the enhanced subsidies to expire. That’s why they didn’t extend them in OBBBA, and that’s why they kept calling them a “December problem” even though open enrollment began on November 1.

Iraq was Dick Cheney's war. It disgraced GWB and put both of them in the historical category of war criminal. Venezuela is Marco Rubio's war. It will disgrace Trump and put both of them in the historical category of war criminal.
