Gotta say, counting "We got them to agree that a law passed in 2019 is still the law" as a victory is some real learned helplessness

FORMER US VP DICK CHENEY DEAD AT 84

Dick Cheney was a dangerous fool. He not only wanted to exploit the trauma of 9/11 to turn America into the kind of country that builds a network of gulags, tortures random unfortunates, and embarks on misdirected wars, he got the whole power structure of the republic to go along with him.

So many people were detained extrajudicially, were tortured, or died because of Dick Cheney. You can't get to the danger we're in now without everything he did. The weapons he helped forge are ones we need to take away from U.S. presidents forever.

The Republican Jewish Coalition is apparently horrified that, after they stood by the party as it mainstreamed nearly every other form of bigotry into public life in the past decade, now a faction is coming for the Jews.

I do not think he should be mayor, but this is so much healthier of an approach to take toward a democratic election than anything we are hearing from Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo is going to leave NYC the moment he loses. Sliwa seems to truly want to stay in this great city.

Again, every time this happens, we literally have no idea if the masked, plainclothes people are actual government agents, or private citizens acting in party-affiliated paramilitaries. The whole point of IDs & uniforms & no masks is that we know these things.

It's endlessly maddening that Dems would never dream of doing shit like this when they regain power and they are right not to. It's just a blatant asymmetry that flows from the information environment and the GOP knows they can get away with it without fear of retribution.
A White House-ordered Hatch Act violation happening on every agency website and in every federal employee's out-of-office autoresponder.
This is likely widespread. I have seen instructions from inside HHS for away messages to say “Democratic Senators are blocking its passage” re a continuing resolution, and that’s why the employee can’t respond.

AOC: We should be clear about who Charlie Kirk was. A man who believed that the civil rights act that granted black Americans the right to vote was a mistake… His rhetoric and beliefs were ignorant, uneducated, and sought to disenfranchise millions of Americans.

Let's be real: talking about the "debates" Charlie Kirk did like it was the noblest form of democratic praxis is ridiculous.

It was performative trolling, just meant to make his opponents look bad. There was nothing deliberative or good-faith about it. Lots of people do the same thing. But come on.
