The way the #Habs are built, they will often struggle against bigger teams like the Kings. It was very noticeable being live at the game that we couldn’t compete physically. IMO the #Habs need to add some size and grit especially up front if they ever want to make a push in the playoffs

Bryan Hayes say Auston Matthews has not proven to be a top ten player this season 😳

Hab fans never let you down. An exciting young teams in the NHL is 10-3-2. One bad period and they lose their minds.
On the other hand, the constant pressure is part of the reason the Habs have achieved sustained excellence.
Look at Toronto, where they sit on their hands, win or lose.

Montembeault might be the 4th best pro goaltender on the #Habs organization right now.
Not everyone can be a gem, and this one surely wasn’t.

The Canadiens do have some underlying issues but I think we know the big one at the moment.

Also some positives in the Wilde Cards in this Call Of The Wilde for Global Montreal.

Call of the Wilde: Montreal Canadiens pummelled by Los Angeles Kings 5-1 - Montreal | Globalnews.ca
Apart from a laser beam from Josh Anderson into the top corner in the first period, little was impressive from the Canadiens in this one. Brian Wilde has more.

Look for Joe Veleno to start in goal on Thursday.

#Habs Nick Suzuki: "we just weren't executing... I don't know, I can't find another way to describe what just happened. It's frustrating and we got to be a lot better with a good team coming in next."

In a way this is the game the Habs needed to ground them and give them a reality check.

Team hasn’t been playing 60 mins games but have been getting wins or points.

This is the humbling loss that Marty needs to tell them to get to work every shift, all 60 mins if they want to be a top team.

Slaf had a couple soft passes and he's sitting, but Veleno hasn't completed a play in 5 games and he's still out there. I don't really care about Slaf sitting, he and Marty are in sync on his development, but I don't think Veleno's spot can be justified any longer.

Coming into tonight:

Dobes
GAA: 2.25
Save %: .920
GSAE: 6.4

Monty
GAA: 3.46
Save %: .864
GSAE: -6.6

Monty's stats get worse after tonight.

Dobes is top 10 in the league. Monty is bottom 5.

These stat lines are mirror opposites.

How can you not give Dobes the majority of games going forward?

On the positive side, that was probably Josh Anderson's best game of the season. Too bad that mostly everyone else stunk.

Habs could just never recover from that awful 5 minute span in the 2nd period. Probably their worst 5 minutes of the season. Forget about this one and move on to the next.

Well at least the Sens also lost tonight and Leafs are losing to Boston.

Habs haven't beaten the Kings this decade. Haven't won since 2019. The misery continues tonight.

Kuemper is going to stop those type of shots all night long. Nothing but daylight between him and the shooter.

Jesus - this will be the 9th straight loss to the LA Kings.

Joel Armia comes back to haunt his former team. This game is done.

With Monty, it's not about the saves he makes, it's (more often than not) about the goals he lets in that shouldn't go in.

For some reason, LA has just owned our ass for the past several seasons. Besides a lackluster effort, it doesn't help that Habs are also gifting them goals tonight.
November 12, 2025 at 1:49 AM
Habs power play has fizzled lately, but on the positive side their PK has killed off (by my count) the last 12 penalties.
November 12, 2025 at 1:46 AM
Good shift by Veleno (which is probably the only time this season that I can honestly say that).
November 12, 2025 at 1:42 AM
That's the kind of Josh Anderson we like to see! Thundering body check!

That’s a brutal goal to give up by Sam Montembeault to make it 3-1 Kings.

You really can’t defend him on that one
