I'm stuck thinking about this cover for a few reasons. The lyrics inadvertently really speak to coming out. An act of your past for your future and your future reflecting upon your past. The way that to an extent, we know, and owe so much to ourselves.
I think this is the first thing I've seen a duet like this and it's really creative and really touching

there is an extremely simple answer to the "abandon trans rights" folks and it is "no" and also "fuck you"
Lakshya Jain and the Argument fled this website because they couldn't take the criticism and now he's advocating for Dems to abandon trans issues with polling about 'gender surgery for minors' a thing that is not real

Yes. Civil rights have never been given because people asked nicely and their minds have changed. It's only through persistent and strong action. We're a minority of people, less than 1% of the population.
Is right now a good time for the democrats in Congress to be very public about fighting for trans rights? And I’m not sure what slur you’re accusing me of using, but if I’ve said something wrong please do let me know.

I don't think these are unreasonable asks
Again, all I'm asking is that any Democrat who wants my vote support 1. Reverting Trump's anti-trans policies, 2. Commit to fighting against the future erosion of trans rights, and 3. Support legislation codifying trans rights into law.

Very weird how many of you centrists think that's unreasonable

Dude. Talk to poor people.

About Half of my money goes into food. The same food items went from being around 200 to being around 300 real quick the past year.

The slightest change to prices literally means I have to skip meals.

Stop treating the poor as “absurd” for focusing on high cost issues.
Most people spend about 11% of their income on food - hardly the major part of their expenses. Half of food spending is away from home - restaurants and delivery. The idea that most people's economic existence requires carefully monitoring the price of milk and eggs is literally absurd.
4% of a monthly budget is a bit more than a day's worth of food. You did not think about what you were saying. People notice when they are missing more meals.

like even when you have good state level laws to throw around in these arguments like yes i’m happy about that yes i will continue to vote in my state and local elections, why do you insist on talking about me like im a hostage here? that doesn’t really build any good will, does it?

I think one of the real challenges in discussing anything to do with trans people is that the media simply cannot accept that the anti-position is entirely eliminationist. There is no way to "exist in public whilst trans" that they will accept, right down to celebrating a doctor quitting.
Susan Smith of For Women Scotland is quoted in this piece saying that Dr Upton leaving the NHS will be "a relief to female patients."

The employment tribunal found that Upton had done nothing wrong! She was completely innocent of any kind of harassment!

the response i get when i bring up newsom’s transition under 25 comments are so wild because the fandom position seems to be that yes politicians lie to win votes and yes they sometimes pretend to be bigots but look at the laws that pass and it’s fine. don’t look at what they veto tho

one of the most horrifying dynamics i consistently see on this website is liberals rightly outraged at red states who no longer support rape statistics, restrict abortions for survivors, etc. etc. and who then say "to win you have to vote for a candidate who may criminalize transness under 25"
