I think maybe a reason people go to the cinema less now is you have to work out which surcharge you want to pay because there are no regular screenings, and if I don’t want a theme park seat my extra $5 is apparently going to get me “a bright screen” and “loud speakers” which is taking the piss

Our cultural rot is partially rooted in that critics cannot write about and champion what they find interesting primarily; they must keep up with a corporate mandated "zeitgeist".

I don't think film critics should have to review the Marvel movies anymore. Like, I dunno. Should an art critic have to review those big pictures of tomatoes they hang on the wall at Subway? I think they belong in a different category.
