As a ward 6 caucus attendee, thank you for the work you put in. I'm very glad you voiced your concerns and shared your experience.
The scale of what is asked for in ward caucuses, which are larger than many cities', is huge and resources to support the work should come from the state party

These kiosks are around the city, a lot at Metro Transit stops. They were funded through a 2020 program with Mpls public health and put out in an emergency process, so it was chaotic. They were brought in for refurbishment last year and the issue came up when putting them back

In the end we got it installed on the boulevard, which is city property, which somehow made everyone happy? Took months to resolve and hours of staff and volunteer time

also i told jamal osman on election night that elizabeth shaffer had won and he told me a story about asking for safe needle disposal in a park and shaffer saying no because it will "encourage drug use." he was just like "it'll encourage kids not stepping on needles!"

3/ Had to block a candidate’s campaign manager from coming into the voting area to look at the votes cast count on the tabulator. He just wasn’t a permitted person according to our training. First time he got through an unsuspecting judge. Second time they caught him in time for me to stop him.

Incredible work by Councilmember Cashman to get new equipment here (in under a year!) after the old playground was removed unexpectedly.
Today’s the day - The new Loring Greenway playground with wheelchair accessible pavement is installed and inspected and fences will come down today. This tangible investment in livability, safety, and child development will benefit downtown families for generations to come. 🫶

Shoutout to my friend doing the work on this! Very much agreed on the importance of not agonizing over your mayoral pick and just ranking Fateh, Davis, Hampton in the order that feels right for you. All would bring great things to city hall! (And don’t forget about city council and parks votes!)
I had a similar thought to vote early at Govt Center, but then discovered the city is continuing its pop-up voting locations 10/21-10/27, so Wednesday at the Public Services Center is my day. Glad they piloted these and are continuing to use them! vote.minneapolismn.gov/voters/vote-...

I keep thinking about how every org I've been a part of has it's quirks and Personalities, but I've NEVER encountered this level of horrid gatekeeping and hostility.
What is happening within these groups that they feel it's their own fiefdom and any means are justified to keep it to themselves?

Anyway this is toxic on multiple levels. It's toxic to be unwelcoming and hostile towards new people, it's toxic to treat a political caucus as your private club, and it's completely unacceptable to misgender people with the goal of creating a sufficiently hostile environment that they just leave.

I’m running for re-election to preserve the do-something majority that has driven one of the most effective city councils in our history.

Bill has a great intro to how little bike-only funding there is. Also of note is that all of these federally-financed projects through the Met Council have 20% paid by the applicant and many projects are part of larger street changes that prominently include bike features but may be safety projects

It’s been an amazing experience serving on the Streets.mn board for almost 6 years now. Reporting on these local, but critical, land use and transportation issues through well-researched stories is exactly what we bring to the local news ecosystem
