I learned today that my former graduate student, who makes about $1000 a month as a GA in a doctoral program and has had a health insurance policy through the ACA, will see her premiums go from $16/mo to >$600/mo at the start of the year. How are people supposed to live?

I was fortunate to get to spend a few days on Sapelo Island this week for work. The cultural and natural resources there are like nowhere else. I am extremely grateful to do what I do and for the respite of this trip during these days. Here are some pictures of the beach, butterflies and birds.

This happened down the road from my house. Word is they also detained Hyundai executives, South Korean nationals. Georgia has spent years building relationships with Hyundai to build this EV plant (for all of N America) and this one escapade has put everything in jeopardy.

Yesterday I went down a little musical rabbit hole and listened to a bunch of political punk rock music from my youth. The lyrics are even more relevant today.
