Electrification could now reach 75% of all energy demand, as the road-transport and heating sectors rapidly electrify 🔥🚗

These two sectors account for 50% of global energy use and are now ready to switch from fossil molecules to clean electrons.

Joe Rogan has one of the world's most popular podcasts. Unfortunately, like nearly all of the most popular online shows, his tends to spread climate misinformation. For @climateconnections.bsky.social I scrutinize his recent episode with octogenarian climate contrarians Lindzen & Happer 🧵 (1/11)

I’ll keep pushing this line of analysis because I’m increasingly convinced the clearest path out of this mess is for Dems to adopt a relentless anti-corruption, anti-inequality, anti-oligarchy, pro-democracy platform. The Dem leadership hasn’t realized it yet, but they’re now a reform party.

College Station is crime-ridden hell hole. Thanks, Biden.

The perps better not relax: "This case remains under investigation."

I spent 11 great years at NASA Goddard. There are a lot of tremendously talented people there who push back the frontiers of knowledge every day.

Closing/shrinking Goddard is a real tragedy, but it's part of an ongoing effort that will make the U.S. a laggard in science and technology.

I took a recording of a few of my lectures, transcribed them, and told NotebookLM to convert it into a video. It's pretty good.

I have a @nytimes.com op-ed today on managing power demand growth. Central point: load growth is an opportunity to *offset* upward rate pressure (and avoid gas overbuild), if we plan the system to make fuller use of infrastructure we’ve already paid for. 🔌💡 www.nytimes.com/2025/11/04/o...

I just recorded a short video--essentially an updated version of my social media threads--on the Bill Gates climate memo. Despite agreeing with some points therein, I still think its framing is fundamentally flawed and thus also its key conclusions.
Thoughts from a climate scientist on the Bill Gates climate memo
I wanted to offer my thoughts, as a climate scientist, on the widely discussed memo published by Bill Gates in late October 2025. While I actually do agree with some of the specific points made therein regarding the urgent global need to accelerate efforts to reduce global poverty and improve human

I 100% agree with you. As scientists, there's a hesitancy to articulating ideas that are not new. But you have to realize that most people have not read your paper, so repeating it (a few times, at least) is valuable.

Yes, Zeke references your paper on this.

On The Climate Brink, a great post from Zeke Hausfather about how CO2 and CH4 warm the climate differently. These key differences tend to get glossed over in any discussion.
Super pollutants are trendy, but we should be careful how we use them
Substituting short lived climate pollutants like methane for CO2 as carbon offsets risks breaking the math of net zero
