Yeah, Happy "Birth"-day to the Idiot Box or whatever :)

Seriously, if this movie was any more on the mark, it would have ended with Nikki elected president.

Oh try Prince of Darkness it’s another Carpenter flick, for the more occult aspects of Silent Hill. L

Maybe? Videodrome? body horror tech/industrial vibes. Testuo: The Iron Man for similar.

I think it’s more scifi but Annihilation as an ethereal self-manifesting introspective horror

THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOU'RE DEAD occupies the same universe as VIDEODROME, presenting how in roughly a decade the applied VHS methodology, while still largely sub/fringe cultural, has migrated from avant garde pretense to a more mom and pop posthumanism via boat drink seeking hucksters.

you know the way Brian O'Blivion in VIDEODROME communicates with others only post-mortem via pre-recorded VHSes? the older I get, the more appealing this seems...

Yesterday's screening before selling was Videodrome.
Trying to decide on which one to watch today.

The only thing Cronenberg got wrong is that everyone would walk around with Videodrome in their pocket.

I’m loving late Cronenberg. Saw a lot of Crash in this but also even more as you pointed out in your Letterboxd review, Videodrome. There’s the whole thing of not being able to tell what’s real and what’s not, and he never resolves that. 🤌

“The television screen is the retina of the mind’s eye. Therefore the screen is part of the physical structure of the brain. Therefore, whatever appears on the television screen emerges as raw experience for those who watch it.”

David Cronenberg, Videodrome

I watched videodrome when I was a teen in the 80s. Ever since, sometimes when I have a fever, certain scenes might enter my dreams. Very weird.

Videodrome is so good

Been filling some Cronenberg gaps the last year or so, which is very fun. The Brood and Videodrome, hell yeah. Just watched Dead Ringers and… well, I guess that one’s not for me.
