People at school had a method for doing rubicks cubes. I could never see the point of that. I wanted to figure it out for myself. I never did that either and probably never will.
Being better at chess might involve learning set plays. Or could just involve enjoying thinking each move for yourself.

I’m curious to know what the craziest thing you’ve learned for your children? I learned to solve rubicks cubes because my son loves to scramble them up. I’m no speed cuber. But my best record so far is 1 minute and 52 seconds. Would’ve never learned to solve these things otherwise.
