I would prefer to see some clear lines about new development. Like reducing plastic use to recyclables. Getting toxics and plastics out the building merchants.

People are adding shredded plastics to concretes and renders. Along with the PIR love ins and pvc accoutrements, resins and pastes.

During 2025 I was psyched to see how much biochar is starting to be used to sequester carbon in places like Australia and Germany as well as in Virginia even using AI technology to separate organic "waste" and other recyclables out of municipal trash.

to portland’s credit, certain batteries can be put in a ziplock bag and attached to glass recyclables, unfortunately that does not work for my case btw the batteries themselves and that not being available to apartment dwellers

As you undeck the halls, don't place holiday lights in the trash or curbside recycling. Take unwanted or burned-out light strings, power strips, or cords to a special drop-off near you - like SWD HQ, the zoo, and city service departments. See cuyahogarecycles.org/recyclables/holiday_lights/
