Just spent the afternoon assisting friends who organized a "Pedalpalooza" bike training event at our elementary school. Inspirational to see kids have fun and pick up skills. I guess teachers get this every day!

At a discussion with a panel of teenage girls at @dubcitycouncil.bsky.social #Pedalpalooza this year one of the key things they said that would encourage them was feeling safe.

That means investing in world class wide, segregated, integrated and maintained infrastructure.

Then maybe influencers..?

there's obviously other major life variables involved, but over the last six weeks i replaced my salem commute with (e-)biking 450+ miles for errands around town and pedalpalooza and i cannot tell you how profoundly healthier, happier, and mentally calm i am. make this shit available to everybody!!!

💯. And I'm sure my kids will make me re-create last year's route as soon as we get back in town. My daughter's spent the last year asking me when the taco ride is. On the pedalpalooza splash pad pedal, she remembered the bridge we crossed was the same from the taco ride. It has mythical status!
