Oh wow! Essex Council's Highway Dept are actually celebrating this! #PaintIsNotInfrastructure #PaintIsNotProtectiveInfrastructure

It should be malpractice to have a "painted bike lane" narrower than the "bike lane" stencil. Vancouver has a few of these. 😒

Paint is not infrastructure.

"Vancouver’s painted lanes were associated with higher cyclist KSI; Calgary’s cycle tracks with fewer KSI."

KSI = Killed or seriously injured

I started wondering.. maybe these painted bike symbols do not actually have any magic powers y to keep cyclists safe?

No Level Crossing Removal Authority, I will not be using this lane to turn right near the Maddox Road. #PaintIsNotInfrastructure. 🙄🤦‍♀️

Of course there won't be road rage or cyclists hit.

As someone recently 'doored' and concussed after cycling in sharrows,
I'll spell it out again...

Paint.
Isn't.
Infrastructure.

#PaintIsntInfrastructure
#sharrows=ShittyArrows
Another reminder that a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.

ALL ROAD USERS.

And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all.

For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them.

Well so is paint but relies on drivers to abide the paint/plastic & drive safely. Unfortunately too many don't so as useful as a chocolate teapot. #PaintIsNotInfrastructure #PaintIsNotProtectiveInfrastructure

You know the driver will defend against this with 'I wasn't in the (crappy) cycle lane. #PaintIsNotInfrastructure #PaintIsNotProtectiveInfrastructure

Voie "suggestive".
Je suppose que alors c'est une voie a double sens pour les voitures aussi. Donc ce n'est un aménagement cyclable.

“Student safety is our priority”

A tip for the #NewWest school district: paint makes nobody safe, install bollards.

Of course the bollards can't be on the roads to protect those cycling too... 🤬🤬🤬🤬 #PaintIsNotInfrastructure #PaintIsNotProtectiveInfrastructure

Alas that's just paint to give reasons to drivers to be even more abusive. It's not even a mandatory cycle lane so parking is allowed in it! #PaintIsNotInfrastructure #PaintIsNotProtectiveInfrastructure

But why won’t the cyclists just use the #bikelane that we paid £3.50 to make?

If you can park in it then it’s not a bike lane #paintisnotinfrastructure

If a driver has to cross the lane markings to pass you then you’re already slowing traffic. Just park legally.

gotta be one of the most useless bike lanes cdot has ever painted

The VULC returned to SW Marine Drive today, updating an assessment ride from 10 years ago. Not much has changed, unfortunately. Fast, close vehicles; debris; barriers pushed into the cycling lane; bollards destroyed by vehicles; inconsistent treatments. #PaintIsNotInfrastructure #bikeyvr

And yes. Motorists driving in dedicated cycling infrastructure IS a daily occurrence on my rides. This is why I scream about #PaintIsNotInfrastructure: because even concrete barriers are not enough to keep entitled motorists from "sharing road safety" badly.
