@keroan.bsky.social hey, my alter ego wrote another book. It's fiction and art in 2065, and all about what happens if you leave AI in charge of urban planning. Thought you might like it!
Happy Pub day to @bel-scifi.bsky.social for HopeStreet!

I am absolutely hopping mad about the council's proposed budget cuts. I know it's only proposed and not decided yet, but the fact that they were even suggested is infuriating.
Also many thanks to @pdcityhall.bsky.social for bringing this nonsense to public attention.

Right now is a very good time NOT to buy from Amazon. Remember when Amazon was a bookstore? If you'd like the Y2K nostalgia of online bookshop without supporting the bald billionaire, may we suggest browsing the Pete's Press Christmas Cat-alogue?

If anything, this just shows how *underfunded* all these amazing organizations are.
Further to this thread, I now have an more complete list of organizations receiving Community Investment Grant Program Funding. It's 146 names long & it doesn't even include community associations.

I'm going to post the list I have so far to bsky right now. Hold on to your hats. It's enormous… /1
Sorry to harp on about this, but item 60 in budget Appendix M13 contemplates ending the Community Investment Grant Program. That this is being considered, however remotely, is crazy. I'm struggling to find a list of all the groups the CIGP funds b/c if you saw it, it'd blow your mind. #yqrcc /1

I truly believe the sight of children riding bikes, in neighbourhoods, terrifies elected municipal representatives.

I mean if children didn't terrify them, wouldn't they bend over backwards to priortize their safety?

For August, added a bold for poetry. I always intend to read more poetry and almost never do. Sad that it took Andrea Gibson's death to move me from following their work online (mostly through Button Poetry on FB) to actually ordering a book.

The International Criminal Court is ditching Microsoft Office, saying it’s too dependent on US tech, in favor of Open Desk, a German open source alternative.

The move comes after Microsoft revoked ICC head Karim Khan’s email access when he was sanctioned by the US for the warrant against Netanyahu.
