The obvious move is EV minitrucks and we've got a few contenders there, In The Future. Telo and Slate look like the natural evolution of minitrucks into an electrified future.
Amusingly, the goddamned Chevy Silverado and Ford F-150 are considered 'minitrucks' at this point.

I will say, and I hate this, CAFE standards are a part of why light trucks have gotten fuckall big and the smallest light trucks today are the size of the larger trucks from the 80s and 90s. I _WANT_ viable minitrucks but fleet standards make that a losing game. Rolling back, bad. Adjusting, good.
Gotta wonder if American automakers are going to want to retool their entire product lines to make them worse and more expensive just so they can sell to a diminishing segment of a single auto market.

What a dick. And the 80s were fucked up- All the kids wanted either muscle cars (like Trans Ams, IROC Z28s, Nissan 300ZXs, or Mustangs) or Minitrucks. Convertible VW Rabbits/GTIs/Cabriolets were considered "Girls cars". It was a weird and gross time.

Maybe it's because I'm European but I don't understand this about car culture in some countries at all. I don't drive but would pick a smaller car that is more practical & affordable to use if I did. I love the cars that come out of Japan for that reason. The minivans and minitrucks are really cool!
