Seriously, how is it going to help to release a suspect’s nationality or status? It’s simply playing into bigots’ hands. It also suggests an acceptance of the idea that migration status is an indicator of criminality.

More and more people are saying it: the Home Office is not fit for purpose and should be broken up, so migration can be dealt with by a department designed to make the system actually work for all of us.
