Suhoor is -often and when possible- a familial meal. Families wake up together, eat together, drink together, maybe pray together, and - depending on the schedule and the time between suhoor and their normal wake-up time - return to sleep.

Debbie and I have discussed this 😂 You all just seem so connected! Your parents are so consistent. They care so much about your life and who you are. And you make it look easy (though I know it isn’t) to return that care. Y’all have no familial culture of giving up on one another.

While I am not a believer, I do value these traditions and the sense of community they foster. There's something almost serene about the communal nature of the month, the familial Suhoor before dawn, and all these small different customs depending on where you are in the world.
It's almost time for Ramadan, as Muslims tonight peered to the crescent moon to see if the month of Ramadan starts tonight or the day after. As with every year, I'm starting this thread so that people can ask questions, and learn about Ramadan from one person's perspective of it.
