The UK could switch to renewables for the price of two nuclear reactors.
Everyone's energy bill could drop to standing charge only, to cover grid costs & maintenance.
If we pushed further, we could export that energy to pay for that too.

Listening to the budget.
The rhetoric is transparent lies.
She's not doing austerity, while explaining she's cut so much, the debt is reducing faster than expected.
That she's helping workers and "mom 'n' pop" businesses, while explaining she's handing out enormous tax breaks to big businesses.

BBC on cost of living crisis:
We spoke to a couple feeling the pinch with a combined income of £67,000...

*Average* combined income is £35,000.
People with £5,500 a month are not at the pointy end of inflation.

Utterly out of touch to present them as a family in food poverty.

Starmer can get absolutely f**ked.
PMQs right now:
"We should do everything we can to prevent suicides"
Coming from someone who has worked hard to increase trans suicides, especially kids.
And he says this on TDoR.

Headline today: Labour is removing human rights from asylum seekers - right to family life.
This should be enough for anyone who isn't already convinced this "Labour" government is evil.
Even the Tories knew this was a red line.

Minister trying to bs his way through making the OSA even more draconian.
Keeps saying "don't worry about free speech, suppression of trans resources, etc. because nothing will become illegal unless it puts children at risk!"
In the same breath as explaining anything on the internet is fair game.
The BBC is under attack - should the left care?

It comes after a leaked memo criticised the editing of a documentary about Donald Trump and accused the BBC of bias in a number of areas.

Labour: *Points at Reform* don't vote for racists!

Also Labour: "she will model her new measures on the Danish system – seen as one of the toughest in Europe"

Touche Labour, I won't vote for racists. Weird of you to tell people not to vote for you, but 🤷🏼‍♀️

While I love that Lit RPG* is such a saturated genre that there are multiple series about being reincarnated as a slime, and "Deck Based" is an entire sub genre.

I hate that I know more series about being reincarnated as a farmer, than as a woman.

Weird how he's actively opposing private trans healthcare, despite these being the longest wait lists and this being the only realistic option for trans people because of him.
All while having de facto privatised 10% of all (other) healthcare.
Private hospitals carrying out more NHS appointments and procedures
Using spare capacity in the private sector is key to the government’s target of ensuring that 92 per cent of patients in England should wait no longer than 18 weeks from referral to treatment

BBC keeping up with their top class investigative reporting, opening their headline scoop with:
"A BBC reporter obtained the book from a bookstore"
They bought a book and then read it.
This is not news, and not something to brag about.

Mae Martin's series Wayward hits hard.
Not sure it's subtle enough to call it an allegory for conversion therapy and having to live as a queer person surrounded by cis/het people and being edited out of everything.

I despise how so many shows are purpose built for a second season, rather than telling a complete story.
Especially when they know a decision won't be made until after it airs, so season 2 won't come for 3 years 🙄

Anyway, I'm enjoying foreign language TV that doesn't do that.

Nothing says "we're a lefty party!" like threatening to cut funding and shut down universities for not banning anti-genocide protests.
This is the "free speech watchdog" who fined Sussex university, Brighton, for not being transphobic enough and not stamping out trans people protesting harder.
Universities risk sanctions over Gaza protests, watchdog says
Arif Ahmed says freedom of speech does not mean the freedom to harass and discriminate Jewish students.

Alongside a bunch of people best known for hating trans people.
Could someone explain to us all why the EHRC still has its rating?

Hot dang. Blocked by James O'Brien for saying that refusing to call out racist behaviour is bad.
He's blocked at least 4 people on the thread for saying the same thing.
bsky.app/profile/naff...
Grim that being called "racist" is now more beyond the pale than being racist.
The answer should be
"Of course he did - supporting racist policies *is* racist".
Not to rush to the defence of people desperate for racism.
If they don't like being seen as racist, they shouldn't support racism 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm reminded of the manga With the Light

It's about a mother struggling to raise an autistic child.
The struggles aren't because of the child, they are because of everyone else being turdbags.
Also good for if you've a box of tissues that needed using.

My noise cancelling headphones have packed in, anyone have recommendations?
I'm looking for over ear ones.
I rely on them to reduce panic attacks so need good ones!

The dead ones are Sony XM4 which have a manufacturing defect where the microphone self destructs and causes a feedback loop.

BBC headlines today includes outrage that some people trying to evade care home fees and taxes are being scammed 🤷🏼‍♀️

We're in a cost of living crisis and the gov't keeps saying there's not money. Forgive me for having no sympathy for tax dodgers who fail to dodge taxes.

In London for work this week.
Looks like the hotel booking system has been deadnaming me so the hotel check-in clerks were very confused until I pulled out an old id 😮‍💨
This is how the gov't wants it.
Tl;Dr: the high court ruling & EHRC 'guidance' are entirely intended to make our lives unliveable.
