This isn't something I'm coming up with. There's a whole area of scholarship around this debate. Malthusians vs cornucopians. You're welcome to argue the cornucopian position, but it's incorrect to say that there is no evidence to the contrary in recorded history.

take for example #solar & #sunlight.

yes, sunlight is for all practical purposes a sustainable flow (cornucopian argument). but you cant eat it, you cant power your car with it. it needs other resources to extract and those are all finite stocks. so flow sustainability isn't a good argument […]

'luxury' in this context, I immediately shudder. luxury should be in cornucopian abundance, but here it just means comfort-as-premium. my underclass town is overgrown with new builds of 'luxury' accommodation that nobody moves into. yet still has homelessness

That is mostly a mental inability. I agree with you, if we can preserve the knowledge we have, then our successors, if with a systems preservation instead of growth mindset, could in long distance do amazing things. But from where we are today, cornucopian fantasies are just fantasies.

The punditry will be unable to understand things like this so long as they continue to shackle their brains to techno-optimist, cornucopian abundance ideologies that tell them everything is fine be flat screen t.v.'s are cheap and stonk line go up.

The phrase “high on their own supply” has never been more apt. These guys need to be contained and monitored 24/7.

🌵Comfort OC Meme🌵

Name: Niya

Species: Cornucopian (plant folk)

Fave trait of OC: she has an enormous heart

How this OC was made: back in 2016 I joined a random d&d game and a spontaneous decision created her

Extra: she likes to sing but is too shy to do it around others

Or: "Some die after living long, productive lives, with high added value for society; and most die sooner, after being poor and lazy and hopefully without having too many chances to spread their bad genes". Remember kids, this is not some cornucopian land of the free... This. Is. Sparta!

The chapter therefore also deals with the issue of how environmental politics was contested even in an environmental forerunner country like Sweden and how, even though regulatory compliance was the norm, opposition and critique existed in the public debate, through cornucopian arguments.
