Finally, the oracle speaks. … it would help if he were to speak more frequently, perhaps hold press conferences and address the issues. Sounds like he doesn’t think the republic’s on fire. Nice to know, for all the smoke.

I’ve encountered this sort behaviour in my professional career. (I have previously been a social worker specialising in older ppls mental health, particularly dementia). Family conferences facilitated by a third party can help to make the issues discussable. But your Dad needs to be open to help 1/2

In fact, "inventing the Renaissance" was in no small part an attempt to "activate" the classical past into a tool for political legitimacy, something which had been tried for centuries before and which we're still trying today. *Legitimacy* is a driving, essential theme of this book!)
