I've been running workshops for teachers on teaching poetry for about 40 years or more and I do at least one session a year on it where I teach at Goldsmiths University of London. We have a new course about to run at CLPE on poetry, people and places. Do join us!

If, like me, you were dismayed by the new Reflecting Realities report, and want to see more representative children's books - look at this brilliant book pack from @theclpe.bsky.social & @letterboxlibrary.bsky.social! I'm beyond honoured to see Tyger there:

2025 is my year for being a bit more difficult. Less happy to sigh and accept things as they are. So we’re kicking off with this. Bloomsbury think it’s fine to offer a choice of exclusively white authored children’s books in their new influencer program. #kidlituk

Lots that I want to say. Lots I probably shouldn’t. I hope publishing takes time to reflect on the findings.

Huge thanks to Farrah Serroukh at CLPE for putting together this important report which we all hope will spark much needed conversations. #ReflectingRealities

Well done, too, to all my fellow shortlisted poets, the shadowing schools who performed our poems so brilliantly, and all the judges, members of CLPE and the fantastic audience which made yesterday’s event at the National Theatre such a joy. What an amazing day.

Children's books should be for ALL CHILDREN! But the new Reflecting Realities report from @theclpe.bsky.social shows a worrying decline in representation. Publishers need to respond and do better: we need books for EVERYONE!

CLPE works with a very large number of teachers in classrooms If you want examples to look at, I'm sure they could offer you names of teachers who are adopting interesting & productive approaches to writing in EY and KS1 and 2. Just let me know & I can ask for you.
