Well it was dependent upon what was surplus to ration. Factories & offices installed canteens plus stores introduced restaurants. Farmers had secret pigs & the East End had Romford Market. So everyone had some sort of loophole to use, providing you didn't overdo it.

I used to think my secondary school was fancy (new buildings, well heated/spotlessly clean) etc. Until I learned the rest of the world have things like libraries and canteens/kitchens

Work canteens can be wild. I once worked with a guy who thought tea break meant 'drink as much tea as possible'. He'd SIP-AHH, SIP-AHH multiple cups of scalding tea while grimacing for 10 minutes. Another didn't know how to cool soup. He'd just make a blowing noise. Dude was just hissing at soup

A genre of filipino food that you see online a lot is "Silog"- it used to be "tapsilog", tapa, sinangag at itlog- grilled beef, fried rice and egg- but people dropped the "tapa" because a lot of canteens started selling fried rice and egg with any protein of your choice-

The Prometheus Foundation have Chapters all across the Ruhevolk and their canteens are known to take advantage of the local cuisine to feed their workers.

ICE agents at a hotel in St. Paul woke up this morning to news that they’re getting kicked out of their hotel today at noon.
Bill Melugin v @BillMelugin_•1h NEW: I'm told multiple ICE agents with rooms booked at the St. Paul Downtown Doubletree by Hilton received this notice today that their rooms are being cancelled & the hotel will temporarily close "due to heightened public safety concerns in St. Paul." I called the hotel & checked online & they are indeed not taking any bookings right now. They referred me to other hotels. I'm told this also happened today at the Intercontinental St. Paul, with ICE agents with bookings there notified the hotel will be temporarily closing today due to the ongoing unrest in Minnesota. An agent who talked to the front desk manager there says he was told it was done to protect staff because they have been getting threats from unknown individuals for lodging DHS agents.
