There are, like, fifty threads going on & on about how 6th ed ruined 5th ed Bretonnia (with very few mentioning editions *before* 5th being even more bleak than 6th) bc they didn't portray knights & kings as noble figures. Like, buddy, I don't think the cop-landlord-tank super combos were good guys.

Decided to shift over to doing a proxy Bretonnia army instead of a Lion Rampant 12/13th C. army, & I'm immediately struck by the number of people who spent days, weeks, years(!) painting little knights & peasants but don't have so much as an iota wrt what a feudal monarchy is & how it works.

To an extent i've seen this with a lot of other factions too. There are people i've seen who get way too into the "noble knights and servile peasants" aspects of Bretonnia and lean in to it so unironically it worries me.

I do sometimes wonder if it was a conscious design choice for Citadel Miniatures Fantasy ranges, as the Perry's historical figures (which got folded into their Empire and Bretonnia ranges) released by Citadel certainly are different stylistically then say the Dwarves, Elves and Orcs of that period.

I do sometimes wonder if it was a conscious design choice for Citadel Miniatures Fantasy ranges, as the Perry's historical figures (which got folded into their Empire and Bretonnia ranges) released by Citadel certainly are different stylistically then say the Dwarves, Elves and Orcs of that period.

Yeah Chaos can't organize around anything other than a charismatic warlord. It can't build a nation state (which is why I was sceptical of Archaon actually winning to begin with. The resources of the Empire, the Dwarfs and Bretonnia were immense)
