Polling on trans issues is difficult to interpret. It becomes even more difficult when pollsters use politically charged terms like 'transgender ideology.'

this sounds eliteist, but it’s true. the real threat from drones or llms are not obvious, and without system knowledge to build off of, you simply won’t foresee how existing vulnerabilities will be exploited by new technologies
If you want to fight back against the unethical and horrifying use of novel technology, then you *really* need to become an expert on how those technologies work. That is exactly what I've done with drones.

Anyway, I see a lot of data about how AI will change workflows, how it is reshaped state administrative capacity. But I do not see, as a colleague described it just yesterday, as yet changing the everyday structure of life.

what makes something "vulnerable to AI" is not the capacity of machines but the credulity of management.
Of course, it is also true that historians jobs may in practice be vulnerable to AI, because a lot of people who control the money for historian jobs probably haven’t thought much about where history comes from, either.

An LLM also cannot tell you WHY something matters unless a human already wrote that in something it was trained on. History isn’t just a dry recitation of facts, it’s a process of making meaning of the past and how it interacts with our present day understandings, neither of which an LLM can do.

De verdad, no consigo concebir nada más repugnante, vil e inhumano que la sanidad privada. De todas las aberraciones de las que es capaz el capitalismo puede que sea la más abyecta. Defender la sanidad pública es defender la decencia humana más básica. Es una cuestión de dignidad fundamental.

Honestly I'm really sick of the "soon it'll be indistinguishable" because not a single person using AI doesn't look like they're using AI. It's all the same compositions, same faces, same lighting. The people using this tech do not care about the creative process or having a voice. They want output.

in the fantasy setting of Warhammer, a grim and dour world, there's this wandering carnival run by priests of the healing goddess that exists purely to just beat it into the heads of simpleton peasants that they need to wash their fucking hands and I feel like we need this in the real world
A friend of ours was able to be a test subject for an mRNA vaccine for an aggressive form of breast cancer. Completely worked. It is one of the greatest miracles of science and like 40% of the country turned it into The Jab because they are mushheaded simpletons.
