Seriously, I’ve been waiting to be vetted to deliver groceries for days. The bottleneck is real.
We out here vetting our signal chats 10x more scrupulously than the federal government vets people before handing them loaded firearms

gentle reminder to folks living in cities that are not under siege by the federal government yet:

please start getting involved with your local mutual aid orgs asap, even if it's in an "on-hold / as available" capacity.

a large bottleneck for mutual aid orgs is vetting. it takes time to do safely.

And also, plenty of Americans are doing a bunch. The bottleneck is that the group of aristocrats we call elected officials are refusing to help.

Goods news: found out ram is the bottleneck

Bad news: ram is the bottleneck 😩
Any Linux users can explain to me why a 1660 ti is having worst performance than a 1050 2gb? like Overwatch 2 runs at similar framerates with worst 1% avarage and the GPU doesn't even go beyond 50% usage.

"Big Tech has been on an energy hiring spree. Technology companies investing heavily in artificial intelligence are bolstering their workforce with energy experts as they look to overcome the biggest bottleneck in scaling AI: access to power."
Big Tech is poaching energy talent to fuel its AI ambitions
Hires of energy-related talent by Big Tech was 30% higher in 2025 than pre-AI levels.

Introducing DroPE: Extending Context by Dropping Positional Embeddings

We found embeddings like RoPE aid training but bottleneck long-sequence generalization. Our solution’s simple: treat them as a temporary training scaffold, not a permanent necessity.

in addition, removing the bottleneck that held back the dam of disgusting and problematic content because hired artists are incentivized as a whole to have a moral compass when offering goods and services

I used to attack Ontario from Western and Eastern United States, that’ll get you there in 2 steps. You need to get troops in Alaska and Central America though, bottleneck that so you get the points for owning the whole continent

Yeah, that's not the bottleneck anymore, really. If you're in a race that matters, the small donors will overwhelm you, heh.

after interacting with the medical (dental) system frequently in the past month or so, i just don't see LLMs clearing the biggest bottleneck. actual physical care.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's vision for Claude in Healthcare (from today's live stream).

1) Doctors should have a partnership with an LLM assisting the patient

2) Accomplishing this is no longer a technological problem, but it is now an infrastructure and administrative problem.

She’s also in charge of reading everyone’s letters to/from home before delivery to make sure there’s no classified &/or morale-damaging news. Not the most popular role. You have to be able to read fast or you become a bottleneck.

this is another great example of guys trying to use AI to solve the wrong problems. You can't gain efficiency by automating "thinking up a restaurant concept and menu pricing"! That is not where the bottleneck to "starting a restaurant" happens!

If coal continues to collapse then that frees up a lot of Russian Railways capacity.

So…I don’t think they’ve solved the bottleneck that existed, but it might not be a bottleneck if the flow through the bottleneck is reduced.

a theory: mobile explosion was top-down, driven by Apple and Google, and Apple in particular enforced a walled garden - the app store was a bottleneck which created a pseudo-govt w/opaque decision-making over all apps. Nothing similar existed for Linux/wikipedia
It is interesting on this 25th anniversary of Wikipedia to ponder: what factors of the blooming of the early Internet led to Linux and Wikipedia; why the mobile explosion didn’t lead to similar commons explosions; and whether the Claude Code moment is more 1991-2001 or 2007-2008.
And in the current moment (which is very different from the seed moments of Linux and Wikipedia) doing that community construction probably requires doing something that both (1) breaks through the noise but (2) performs a filtering function to keep a good ratio of contributors:hangers-on.

for what it's worth, minimax m2.1 is extremely close and runs pretty well on a single framework desktop (10-20tok/s)

but the prompt processing speed becomes a pretty big bottleneck for subagents...
