An important study presented at #ACAAI2025 showed that vaccinated children with eczema had lower rates of both allergic conditions and infections compared to their unvaccinated peers. Eczema is an early step in the "atopic march" toward #foodallergies.

Cool science unravelling the relationship between microbe & host- Staphylococcus aureus & our skin. S aureus is perhaps best known as a bacteria that can cause serious infections & worsen atopic dermatitis (AD, eczema) but it can be in normal microbiomes too as a commensal so what is happening? 🧪🧵

Got excited too quickly it is actually about some IgE mechanisms, in fact it is about IgE from the clinical perspective! Worth reading if you are interested in current anti-IgE therapies against atopic diseases onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1...
IgE in Allergic Diseases
Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is key in the pathogenesis of allergic diseases, exerting both systemic and local effects through high-affinity binding to FcεRI on mast cells and basophils. Cross-linking of a....

People don't talk enough about how atopic dermatitis can be completely debilitating emotionally and physically. I keep wanting to make content and don't even fully care about the look of it... but it's hard to feel fun or sexy when your skin constantly hurts.

Guess I'll settle for being pretty rn.

iirc, UV therapy was first started in Germany for dematological conditions (which are also auto-immune disorders btw) such as atopic eczema, psoriasis etc.

Cheaper than conventional treatments - creams, oral side effects, bandages, hospital stays, time off work /1
