I think “Los Angeles” is mostly Doe, and I don’t know any of her post 91 work (listened to Alphabetland once). Her social media is wildly disappointing and heartbreaking, but “Beyond and Back,” “Because I Do,” “We’re Desperate,” “Under the Big Black Sun,” etc are still extremely powerful lyrics.

It's this one. There's actually a newer one called Smoke & Fiction that's good but I thought Alphabetland was superb. The lyrics are sharp and cutting, the mix is great, and the Exene spoken word piece to close is haunting. My fav track is Star Chambered

The re-recording X did on Alphabetland.
It's miles better than their earlier version off of See How We Are, which I find a bit bloodless.

Alphabetland was incredible and felt like a fitting end. Then X did it again. One of the best L.A. acts

On first listen: there's nothing that stops me in my tracks & I don't know if it's as good as Alphabetland.
But if this is the album they're choosing to end on then it's a perfectly worthy exit.
