His loud declaration of watching Alastor get beaten being "better than sex" seemed to annoy Val, who also said killing Alastor is Vox's "kink," so I wonder if it's been an issue they've dealt with in the past like we saw in s2, where he neglects Val physically and emotionally unless he can get
