It was great finally getting to meet @jeffgeerling.com in person at #VCFMW a few weeks back!
Does anyone happen to know what is up with the Zorba timeline? I am working what I thought were the only three Zorba models (Telcon, Modcomp, Gemini), but I found something called a "Nomis 9", and other models? I feel like this is more complicated than it needs to be, haha!

I had trouble with this while driving to VCFmw in 2024 but I won’t be able to make it to the Interim Computer Festival tomorrow because the border thinks I’m trying to sell a table of laptops.
It’s almost 9pm, the brokers are closed and I don’t have a printer. This is stupid.

While I wait for #VCFMW video proxy generation, thought I would touch actual vintage hardware for a change. With the help of @necroware.bsky.social nwX287 RTC module, one of my Dell 316sx's has functional CMOS again. Found 2 more 1mb simms and an old version of memtest86 to verify the configuration.

For this project I designed and built a meshtastic radio that plugs directly into the Commodore 64. My goal was to release this at the VCF Midwest show (VCFMW) in Chicago on September 13th and 14th. I barely made it! The finished module plugs into the Commodore 64 User Port The idea I had heard some things about meshtastic, but I was no expert. As I looked into it, I learned that it is an open source, decentralized, peer-to-peer, text messaging network designed for long-range mesh communication. This seems to attract people that are either interested in the technology, interested in a decentralized / non-monetized communication system, interested in emergency communication - or any combination.
