Frailty, not chronological age, should guide decision making. Really sucks that as a family we've had to talk about the kids (20 and 16) not going to any protests because they both have T1D and so it's not just "what if they get shot by DHS" it's "what if they're detained for 12 hours and denied their cellphones which control their insulin pumps."

Being a T1D is tough and it has wild dangers. One is “dead in bed syndrome” and it is quite literally that young diabetics sometimes randomly die peacefully in their sleep. It accounts for about 6% of all young diabetic deaths. Wild.

T1D, and all chronic diseases, are horrible and all humans deserve access to a baseline standard of medical care (including low cost prescriptions for life saving meds).

When I was 28, I almost died. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

My first insulin prescription cost me $684.

Most Texans can't afford that. So when I got elected, I capped insulin at $25/month.

I know what it means to fight for my life. In the Senate, I’ll fight for yours.

If you're a T1D and are thinking of migrating from the Tandem T:Slim to the Tandem Mobi - DON'T.

This Tandem Mobi is garbage, it's unsafe. It is not capable of consistently administering insulin. It has constant occlusion alarms.

This is a widespread issue affecting many diabetics.
