This handsome Red-bellied woodpecker is a regular at our suet feeder. Isn't he spectacular?!

Morning McKev. Visiting the newer chest freezer in a mo to find forgotten stuff. Prepping a mixed game & chestnut stew to be topped with a suet crust to offer to neighbours for lunch tomorrow. In the spirit of SpaDay might offer Mrs. M a baby oil massage later! (#in my dreams😂!!) Enjoy it you two.

Another entry for Jane’s @javajanegallery.co.uk #SmallBirdSaturday just to show that I am not obsessed. Robins are not the only bird, I am told. Here’s a Blue Tit and a Sparrow getting some breakfast today after Roberto had first pick. Naturally.

Look at that crowd! I've never tried that form of suet feeder, but it seems very effective. I'm so glad you get to enjoy all those silly birds and their antics!

It’s been #raining 🌧️ again all morning 😳 Glad I filled up the #bird feeders 🐦‍⬛ yesterday tea time; they are enjoying the seeds, mealworms and suet balls when the rain is lighter 😊

Good morning all. On Jane’s @javajanegallery.co.uk #SmallBirdSaturday I have to start with Roberto, who was in fine form this morning, eating his fill at the front garden feeder before the tits and sparrows arrived.

We go through a lot of effort to help the local birds get fed during the winter with a wide variety of suet and birdseeds. It also unfortunately attracts the cat's predators to our area, coyotes, which endangers not just the dogs but also the people in our area as they can be harmful to us too.

Voice of a hopeful scientist: Thrilled to observe this Mourning Dove making a graceful appearance at the feeder today. Each sighting offers fresh insight into their resilience and the small wonders thriving in our shared environments.

SNAZZY SNACKER - BDG put a suet cage under a wood board just for Astral the Pileated Woodpecker. She eats at it easily & position deters other birds. We have many other suet blocks but we love seeing Astral so want at least some of her fav treat always left for her. #nature #easyaccessforastral

Does he walk the aisle and choose?
I see you‘ve got your essential suet cakes. 😊
February 6, 2026 at 8:10 PM
Yup. They’re a large suet feeder with a big board that the woodpeckers can brace their tails on.

Northern flicker on the suet!
February 6, 2026 at 7:12 PM
Suet yourself.

The squirrels have finally found the deck suet, so I need to figure out how to thwart them now. A hanging dome or cone baffle might work, but they can probably reach the feeder by jumping from the railing. I also have some stovepipe from another baffle project that I could just stick on the pole 🪶

mostly cardinals/jays/finches/sparrows/chickadees and then a variety of woodpeckers on the suet brick. also assorted other little guys, juncos and whatnot. stupid grackles and starlings too.

I just pour the bird seed out on an old cookie sheet 🤷🏻‍♂️. Oh and I have three suet cakes in hangers

I also finally bought a heated bird bath and a double capacity woodpecker tail prop suet feeder. I'm hoping to draw in some of the larger woodpeckers in my area. My deck camera went down the day after the Northern Flicker showed up so I haven't seen her since. I'm excited to have a deck cam again.

Ok, so it’s universal. They’re all fighting for a seat at the table here. I keep adding stuff. A sock for the finches. Suet for the woodpeckers. There’s just not enough for all the birds that come now. I guess it’s good I have no indoor pets. I’m spending my $$ on birds. Lol
