COLD ENOUGH - Cold is right! This evening’s Moon is called the Full Cold Moon & outside tonight it’s just that, cold. When I took this photo, it was -15°C / 5°F & later it dropped to -20°C / -4°F. Woodstove fires are roaring & happily our home is cozy. #coldmoonwarmhearth

COLD ENOUGH - Cold is right! This evening’s Moon is called the Full Cold Moon & outside tonight it’s just that, cold. When I took this photo, it was -15°C / 5°F & later it dropped to -20°C / -4°F. Woodstove fires are roaring & happily our home is cozy. #coldmoonwarmhearth

MANY MERGANSERS - We saw a large flock of Common Mergansers. They were diving for fish & floating around. They’ll stay as long as they can find food before the water freezes then make another short migration to open water to find more fish. #birds #ducks #nature #notquiteicefishing

ROUND ROBIN - The temp was dropping. A wintry storm was on its way. An American Robin had its feathers puffed up while in a Sumac Tree. They’re a cold hardy species of Thrush. Whether this one stays around or not, it’s nice to see a Robin again. #bird #nature #toughthrush

SEED SAVVY - Northern Cardinals love Black Oil Sunflower Seeds. These seeds are fairly easy for them to open with their beaks. A vibrant red male was perched on the feeder cracking a shell & munching the seed inside. Cardinals brighten up a dull day. #bird #nature #crackasnack

CEDAR RESET - I had put in 3 Cedar trees that were gifts. White-tailed Deer considered them a tasty gift. I might as well have placed them in a big salad bowl. 2 more are now planted & wrapped hoping they’ll be a good long term food source. We’ll see. #nature #wrappedwithcare

FOWL TEMPERED - Mute Swans aren’t as loudly vocal as many species in the Swan Family. They make up for it in attitude. They’re not native to North America. These Swans are very territorial. Be warned. They sure are an incredibly beautiful bird though. #bird #notsomutedmood
