This was coupled to a clearly perturbed mitoribosome assembly/translational profile, again from a low heteroplasmy (38%). If you're not seeing it immediately don't sweat - it took @mitogene.bsky.social ~5 years to teach me how to interpret these things

Methylation is essential not only for RNA stability — we show it’s structurally required for forming the peptidyl transferase center (PTC). Without it, the mitoribosome stalls at an immature stage, unable to build its catalytic core.

Our updated CryFold preprint shows that compared to DeepMainmast, which uses additional constraints, CryFold achieves higher accuracy, greater stability and remains significantly faster. We also tested CryFold on the mitoribosome, successfully modelling 78 out of 87 chains with >80% completeness.
