I meet a lot of people I have only know online at conventions, but it is rare that I make a new friend. Getting to know Gianni at GenCon this year (and being offered a ride back to Chicago) was a highlight of the weekend.

The Bakers may have shaped the artform more than any other individuals. Every day there is some nonsense deifing the GenCon guy from the midwest, when he all his live never contributed a smidge to the maturing and expanding of the artform than them. Like or not their work, it is all a joy to see

So little tidbit. I think it was around the 2002 GenCon. Linda Grey was there, but iirc she wasn't there to sign (most invited guests were for that reason), she was there as more of a mentor to Summer Glau. I worked for GenCon at the time, so I was able to get 'behind the rope' and chat them up.

when i bought my very first shadows of brimstone game at gencon in 2018(?), i got a cool set of stickers too, and put one of them on my laptop. the rest of the set of stickers is gone, i have no idea what happened to it, and i am very upset about this.

4. Wanderhome - I was robbed of getting to run Wanderhome with Possum Creek at GenCon this year thanks to my job, which blows. A lot of my friends haven't really interacted with this kind of game before, I found it to be quite helpful in opening my mind beyond dungeon and/or dragon-based games.
