#Fundamentalist
As many sects of Christianity exist, so does Judaism. The full spectrum from progressive to fundamentalist.

I was never a fundamentalist Christian so not sure why that forum was the one I chose. Maybe it was amusing to me to see evolution deniers argue poorly

At school I had a Religious Studies class which was led by a fundie who gave hack explanations of why evolution is false so maybe that's why

One thing of note is about 2016 is that, in addition to fundamentalist Christians, MRAs, assholes hiding behind cartoon animal avatars, Lauren Southern, and Milo Yiannopoulos, 2016 was also the year we started getting conservative influencers as evidenced by Hunter Avallone and Lauren Chen.

I read @johnfugelsang.bsky.social's book of Separation of Church and Hate and it made me realize that I would have been totally cool with Christianity if my fundamentalist evangelical Southern Baptist relatives followed Jesus instead of Paul. Instead of love, I found hate, and so I turned from hate.

hope the online propagandists who use genocide to hype up other fundamentalist regimes, know that their 2010's tactic of dunking on obvious dipshit democrats means as much as you think it is.. you're all propagandists and dangerous but one group has less charisma.

Media outlets/online shills who dumb all this down based off Trump’s pettiness over a peace prize and not the notion that fundamentalist regimes are organizing the world for economic and physical chaos, they are not be trusted

Closeted white boy trapped by fundamentalist evangelical christianity found funk, disco, soul and hip hop in the 80s

Black music saved my soul
There was a closeted little girl in the early ‘80s who was a bit too fascinated with Boy George, the sitcom Bosom Buddies, and that part in the sequel to Wizard of Oz where the little boy becomes a princess.

It took her about 40 years to come out. She’s still not out to everyone in her family.
there was a closeted little girl in 1986 praying every single night to wake up in the right body, the only prayer she really meant. she instinctively knew it wasn’t safe to tell her parents; she’d be forced to see a priest and confess

it took her 38 more years to come out

it shouldn’t take so long

When you actually look at the subcultures Trump campaigners encouraged to form the MAGA coalition you’ll find a lot of subcultures and aesthetics that don’t go together at all (jocks and gamers, New Agers and fundamentalist Protestants, etc.). Other better political movements will be similar.

Reminds me of when I was young, and it was all about WASPs.
Nobody else counted, with WASPs. Certainly not Catholics or Mormons, are you kidding me!!?!?

Now, the fundamentalist Catholics & evangelicals are pulling the same kind of shit:

They want to dominate society & call all the shots.

Their agenda is a Biblical Fundamentalist America.
If they were to win, it would soon become an America
subservient to China.

The only time NATO was activated was for a certain large country that was attacked by religious fundamentalist terrorists that followed a misguided version of their religion. Let’s hope the rest of NATO doesn’t have to do that again

Between their media & their churches, they live in an alternate reality, not reality as we know it. I know that because I was raised in a fundamentalist kooky church & didn’t get out until I was 28, married w 2 little kids. My husband divorced me for refusing to go to church. it was worth it.

Unregulated religious, fundamentalist, homeschools and charter schools have all contributed to the indoctrination and weakening of our educational system. With acquiescence to conservative authority as a major theme.

this is not enough. the fairness in journalism act that Reagen destroyed leading to the creation of outlets like fox needs restored

the right wing type get the press - entire denominations of Christians in the more orthodox (not fundamentalist) stream are practicing their faith and making the world a better place. Denominations like the Episcopal church are committed to social justice equity and inclusion for example
January 21, 2026 at 10:45 PM
There are some churches, especially in the Black community, that are leaning harder into social justice.

As I've been "decolonizing" my faith, I go back to an interpretation of the Wesleyan Quadrilateral that I encountered in 2017-2019ish.

Jesus, the SJW, unironically.

It’s an extraordinary story of bravery against the odds and a wonderful example of humanity at its best.

& yet we now have genocide in Gaza & the West Bank by fundamentalist Zionists and no examples of people making similar efforts to save innocents from indiscriminate & deliberate slaughter.

@lewystn.bsky.social - Actually the She-Ra and the Princesses of Power reboot on Netflix created a complex narrative criticising fundamentalist religious beliefs. It was also full of same sex relationships and trans representation.
So there is hope!

MAGA = pedo-gelical/American Evangelical fundamentalist

Man I live in a red district and his supporters are the dumbest motherfuckers you'll ever meet. Their stupidity is exceeded only by their hatefulness and envy of others. Of course most of them are fundamentalist christians.
January 21, 2026 at 8:23 PM
I grew up in the fundamentalist southern US, so I'll translate what his supporters heard.
"We're #1! T sticking it to those snobby Europeans! Man, we're so strong and wield so much power! USA! USA!"
It's that stupid and gross. It's why my husband and I left during his first term.
January 21, 2026 at 7:41 PM
He was. In typical British fashion we went for a fundamentalist lunatic after getting rid of a divine right monarch. The 17th century must have been a barrel of laughs.

As for Ireland, the reasons why it is a republic are fairly obvious.

No, I don't personally feel that it's useful for every single American to fill ourselves with collective self-loathing for the actions of our government like we're signatories to the Treaty of Versailles, but then again I don't have a fundamentalist Christian childhood I'm working through.
January 21, 2026 at 7:12 PM
Exactly what a fundamentalist would say.
Trump: "Sometimes you need a dictator."
