oooh, I searched Google for a picture and this is a striking red bloom - Semal. Wonderful tanka and the word ‘flocculence’ used in it too.

Believe it or not, it was the second or third poem I wrote 8-10 weeks ago. I wrote it in response to a prompt (not here) on "flocculence."

I do remember the 'flocculence' word prompt some time ago. It stood out for me as well.

resting in pods
flocculence to be blown
away in summer’s hot breath

Good evening. Nice one, Vic. I love all the frilly fricatives in the first few lines - and "flocculence" is so delightfully you!😍 There is something intriguingly resilient & survivalist about lichen, I agree.
I think you'll be likin' John McCulloch's 'Lichen': andotherpoems.com/2012/11/23/j...
Two poems by John McCullough
Lichen It prefers untended places, drab corners where it arrives like a boon. Kerbs, slag heaps, skewed gravestones— the roofs of council estates it spots with yellow coins dropped from the …

Yes, it is - see also here www.mpia.de/aktuelles/wi... This visualization has been iterated with quite a number of researchers (including those from the Gaia community); all the feedback I have heard so far was very positive. Where does your anti-flocculence stance come from?

Rip the seams from my breast
Expose my soft heart
Shear it through
It is sheer patheticism
#Flocculence flown to air
Remove my gentle
I’m here to die.

NG 5335 is beautiful indeed, as are the other images of course and I learned a new word today!
'Flocculence', I love it.🤓

Is it his profile picture?

If so I have serious doubts about the "flocculence" shown in his illustration.

Flocculence: resembling wool, especially in loose, fluffy organization.

My latest comic:
Plover chicks look like balls of dandelion fluff with toothpicks for legs. Some scientists hypothesize that such flocculence obscures the outlines of the baby birds’ bodies, allowing them to hide in plain sight.
